R-Pro Dart Review

This is from the PDGA Message Board:

"Here's da word on the R-Pro Dart: I've been throwing mine since last Monday and this disc goes right where you throw it. A bit faster than an Aviar which gives you a little carry on longer putts. When this disc hits the chains it stays! I have yet to have a bounce out as the new R-Pro plastic grips the chains and your hand as well. Weather has been cold and windy, looking forward to spring to really get into this disc."

2009 Memorial Starts Today

2009 PDGA National Tour to launch in Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Arizona ~ The Memorial to Kick off 7th Year of Disc Golf's PDGA National Tour
If it's the first week of March and it's disc golf, then it can only be The Memorial in Scottsdale and Fountain Hills, Arizona. Again this year, Dan and Sue Ginnelly will host over 350 players from around the world, as they all kick off the 2009 PDGA National Tour on the pro side, combined with a massive PDGA Super-Tour event on the amateur side.
As the presenting sponsor, Discraft has long been affiliated with The Memorial, where most disc golfers are taking their games out of moth balls and onto the extremely challenging confines of Vista del Camino Park in Scottsdale and the desert oasis at Fountain Hills.
The PDGA Touring players' clinic, organized by Jay Reading, will begin the programming for the event, followed by a Fly-mart at Duke's Sports Bar, and highlighted with the head-to-head-on disc golf competition Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
And while The Memorial features most of the top-ranked disc golfers in the PDGA, this event is as much about camaraderie, as it is about competition. So it truly captures the perfect combination of fun and flying discs.
Make sure to stay posted to pdga.com for scores, photos, feature stories, and video highlights on this first event of the 2009 PDGA National Tour, as well as throughout the entire disc golf season.

My good buddy, Jeff Eades, will be participating in his first Grandmasters event in the Memorial so this is big for him. I'm rooting for you Jeff. Go get 'em!

About the R-Pro Dart

A little more information on the Dart. This is what Dave Dunipace had to say about the R-Pro Dart on the PDGA Messge Board:
"The R-Pro Dart is basically a putter like the Aviar, but shaped like a small Aero. It has the same function as an Aviar, but has a slightly different grip, (slightly wider and shorter rim), is slightly faster, and has less low speed fade, with the same high speed stability. The small amount of low speed fade, along with a slightly lower profile grip, separate this putter from an Aviar. This makes the Dart easier to hit long range putts with its longer straight putting range at similar lower speeds. "

STAR Boss and new R-Pro Dart due in Thursday

Yes, the new discs will be in tomorrow. For those who like STAR plastic over Champion, the Boss will now be in STAR. And the newest plastic from Innova, the R-Pro will debut with the R-Pro Dart, a putter. You can check them out at in the New Products section

Lincoln Ridge (formerly Banklick Woods) Cleanup

Steve Trauger, disc golfer and Kenton Co. Parks Recreation Programs Coordinator announces Lincoln Ridge Disc Golf Course Clean-Up Day March 21, 2009

The Lincoln Ridge (formerly Banklick Woods) Disc Golf Course Clean-Up Day has been set for Saturday, March 21. Meet at Shelterhouse 1 at 10:00 am. Trash bags and gloves will be provided and all volunteers will earn Kenton County Parks & Recreation t-shirts! We will walk the disc golf course fairways and rough and pick up litter. We will replace missing or damaged tee signs. We will work on tee pads and drainages. We will pile sticks and blowdowns and create “rabbit-tat”. Sticks, loosely piled, make great habitat for small birds and mammals, even snakes! If we make homes for the middle of the food chain, hopefully, we’ll bring in some of what is now the top of the food chain: hawks, owls, and falcons. Plan to work until noon. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. Rain or shine – a couple of hours in a drizzle won’t kill you! Bring your plastic – golf discs, that is; we know you’ll want to get in a round or two later! Call and let me know you’ll be there to help - Call Steve Trauger (859) 525-PLAY (7529) for details. This is one of the most beautiful courses in the area. Let's pitch in and help.

Bag Tag Shootout

18 people showed up on a cold Sunday morning at Highland Hills yesterday to get the Bag Tags going for this year. A lot of fun was had by all. We played 3 rounds and the top 2 of each card won $. Dan Hollingshead came away with the #1 tag. We were finished by 1:00.

Thanks again to Nick for running the Shootout tourney. There will be a weekly tag round at Mt. Airy on Thursday evenings after the time change.

Bag Tags are now available at Disc 'n Dat for $10. Come in and get one. You can challenge your buddies for low tag. They will also be available at the weekly tag rounds when they start. We can even send you one if you want, just contact me. Oh, by the way, even though I didn't shoot very good yesterday I came away with #10 bag tag - yeah, I'm in the top 10.
