Time to get your GROOVE on!

Grooves have been ordered. Innova releases them on Monday and will ship at that time. Quantities have been limited to all vendors so get them while you can. We have them at $16.95 now if you pre-order. If you wait till they come in, they'll be $18.95. These are the "highly collectible" First Run Star-Stamped Champion Grooves. The Star Stamp designates these as First Runs.

The Champion Groove is Innova's newest Speed 13 Driver. The Groove features an innovative groove on the underside of the rim. This channel allows this speed 13 driver to be molded in lighter weights than our other wide rim high speed drivers. The Groove offers super fast, long, and straight flights. It can be thrown low or high and sidearm or backhand. If the Boss proved to be too much disc for you, get into the Groove.
Weight range: 165 to 175 grams. Ratings: 13, 6, -2, 2

We just got in the new disc golf instructional DVD which teams "The Champ" Ken Climo and current World Champion Dave Feldberg on a dvd that can help everybody from newbees, intermediate players to advanced players who want to get even better. The Disc Golf Fundamentals DVD can be purchased here.

Mulligans

Since we're using mulligans in our Icebowls, I thought I'd share this little story about Jim:

Jim was teeing off from the long tee. Just after he released his disc he realized that his wife was about to tee off from the short tees, directly in his path. Unable to stop his swing, he hit Sue directly in the temple, killing her instantly.
A few days later Jim received a call from the coroner concerning her autopsy.
"Jim, Sue seems to have died from blunt force trauma to the head. Is it correct you threw a disc and struck her in the temple?"
Jim replied, "that's correct. It was an accident."
"I also found a large bruise on her right hip. Do you know anything about that?"
"Oh yeah," Jim said, "that was my mulligan."

Oh, what a feeling!

Those who have had one, know the feeling and this, to me does a good job of bringing that feeling to life for me. I can just feel it - Ace baby!

Course Ratings

I thought this might be some good stuff. Chuck Kennedy posted this on the PDGA Message Board and it contains a link to course ratings, which you can search for your favorite course and see what the rating is and how you stack up. Hope you enjoy it.

"The course rating is calculated separately for each round and the numbers are usually close from round to round under the same conditions. However, there's some statistical fluctuation so what we do is use all of the scores from all rounds on the same layout to calculate the SSA so the official round ratings will be the same for the same score in all rounds on that layout in the event.You can look at the course history online to see the SSAs and determine a typical SSA for a layout. My favorite discs

Just thought I'd throw out a few of my favorite discs: Champion Roadrunner - this disc is a great multipurpose driver, as it will go straight, left or right and long. Not a good wind disc, but in calmer conditions this is one of my go-to discs. The stamp on mine is almost gone. I use this on a lot of holes at Idlewild.

The STAR Destroyer is currently my distance driver for right to left, in mild winds and just pure distance.

The Comet is definitely my all purpose mid to long range do everything disc. I can throw it straight, left, right and even makes a good roller for me. I'd be lost without a Comet in my bag. The one I have is one from the very early runs, actually tie-dye, even thought it doesn't look like it.
