Disc 'n Dat Bluegrass Open

Time to start updating on the 2009 Bluegrass Open. This is the tenth year for the Bluegrass Open. Sometimes it seems like yesterday and others it seems like it's been twenty! But, thanks to my good buddy Ned Smethers, 10 years ago we replaced the Two Bit Open, td'd by Scott Erke and Brent Newport. Well, Ned deserted me and moved away, but I'm still here and with the help of a great group of friends and hard workers, we've been putting on a pretty damned good tournament now for these ten years.
It's an A-Tier/Supertour tournament that draws some of the PDGA's top players. Last year we had Valarie and Avery Jenkins here as well as other World Champions Rick Voakes, Peter Shive and a lot of top Pros. And the Ams have had a full field every year. Everybody wants a chance to show off their game at two of the best courses in the area, Lincoln Ridge (formerly Banklick Woods) and Idlewild. Lincoln Ridge is a 24 hole course with elevation changes, mostly wooded and a really well-kept course. You can score well here, but it doesn't always happen. Last year's champ, Avery Jenkins, could only muster a pair of 65's on the 24 hole course, while Disc 'n Dat sponsored player, Matt Blakely shot a 60 and a 57.
Now, Avery did come back and shoot a 64 and a 58 at the much more difficult course, Idlewild. Idlewild is not only one of the top championship courses, it is one of the most beautiful and well-kept courses you'll find anywhere, due to the hard work of Hall of Famer, Fred Salaz and a large number of local disc golfers who keep it looking great. If you want to play on of the best courses in the world, come on out. Pictured above is the island green for hole 3 at Idlewild, just to give you a taste!
To register or for more tournament information, check out Disc 'n Dat and here's a link to the current registration list. You can check out the results from last year and see the scores and the payouts. We'll see to it that you enjoy yourself at our tournament. If you have any questions let me know.
