In the Women's race Valarie Jenkins has a commanding lead after winning the first two National Tour events.
In the Men's race Barry Schultz has an 11 point lead after finishing third in the Memorial and second at the Atlanta Open. Atlanta Open champion Ken Climo is in second place with rising star Paul McBeth in third.
With the loss of the Player's Cup in 2009, players who want to contend for the points race and be eligible for the season ending bonuses will be required to compete in at least four of the ten National Tour events, as well as the World Championship and the United States Disc Golf Championship (men) or the United States Womens Disc Golf Championship (women).

The third event in the 2009 Drive for the Championship will take place at the Green Country Open in Oklahoma on April 25-26 when the PDGA Tour will converge at the Taylor Ranch and Lodge, a first time National Tour venue.
