PDGA Logo "Shadow" Revealed

This comes from the most recent PDGA Newsletter. If you're not receiving the PDGA Newsletter that's because you haven't signed up to get it. Come on and sign up to receive the newsletter. It's the start of a new year, lots of tourneys coming up, a new disc golf magazine, the discgolfer will be unveiling soon. Lots of good stuff coming from the PDGA.

Legend from Michigan Provides the Silhouette

Thanks so much to all 84 PDGA members who responded to the PDGA Logo puzzle. No it was not Stork or Climo or Juliana or Rivers Sherrod or Johnny Sias or Barack Obama or Mike Randolph (which I mistakenly advised our World's DVD crew) or Stokely. Who fills the logo, lo-and-behold, is Ken Gill (# 3549) from Michigan. Clearly, the "old-schoolers" and the Michigan crew are well aware of this, as I heard from the likes of Javier Kowalski(#3178), Scott Martin (#5560), J. Gary Dropcho (#2734), Eric Vandenberg (#3089), Mike Politz (#34804), Drew Bray (#7408), Alan Urban (#36583), Zachary Vaughn (#24946), and Larry LaBond (#6903). Most enjoyable was hearing from the Gill family themselves, who provided some interesting background on the image. Brother Joe Gill (#3550), who was one of the first to respond noted that Ken was wearing his tasseled golf cletes in the picture, which was taken Kandahar Park in the Detroit area (a course that no longer exists). Also noteworthy is that Ken was putting with his old reliable...an 86 Softie using the follow-through that his wife, Marie, notes is now being followed by their 12 year old son, who proudly displays the logo on this bedroom door! The logo itself was the creation of past PDGA Board member, Kristi VandenBosch (#7867) originally from Ann Arbor, now in Santa Monica, who spearheaded publicity for the PDGA back then. Her work continues to provide the representation for our association and is a moniker that we are all proud of.
