What is Hitting Metal?

On the eve of the 2008 Ace Race it seems appropriate to post this question - what is hitting metal on your drive? Many Ace Races have been held and many people play "51" - anytime you're playing disc golf - $5 for an Ace and $1 for metal. Some people say Basket and Above Only, some Chains Only, and others Any Metal, Pole Counts. So what do you say? Anybody have any thoughts on this?
